Baltimore Youth Cycling is proud to announce that we are now a Safe Sport Bronze Level club. This certification shows our commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for all of our kids.

Today our road team wrapped up the 2021 season with a fun social ride to New Freedom, PA and back. The kids were riding awesome. Forty two miles round trip and the longest ride ever for three of our juniors.
We hand delivered the new BYC gnome to Mr. Gene at Gnome Village and we were joined by the gnome’s painter, BYC mom, Terri Berkheimer. See if you can spot the gnome the next time you are on the NCR trail.
While there wasn’t a lot of road racing for the younger riders this year, many of our kids made it out to some gravel and mountain bike events and a few even tried their hand at the Tuesday Night Time Trial (TNTT) and racked up some awesome times!
Coach Hans also organized a great “BYC Day at the Track” at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center velodrome in Pennsylvania. This has become a favorite annual event for the BYC road team.
After a really fun road season, the team will take a well deserved rest before cyclocross practices start in August.
Special thanks to coaches Hans Ruppenthal and Nick Brandt for running our 2021 road program practices.
With group rides and racing out of the picture for the time being, the BYC road team has still been busy with twice a week team Zwift rides, Zwift races, solo rides, and of course hills and drills. And we got our new road jerseys!
If you are a MABRA junior and would like to join our weekly Zwift rides, you can follow coach Mike (Mike Marinaro (BYC)) on Zwift or contact him for more information on getting started with Zwift. Be sure to put your team name after your name so he knows to invite you. You may even see a special appearance from a certain USAC official.
In the next few weeks, we will have some more information on what the beginning of CX season will look like this summer. We’re in the process of planning out a few changes to adapt to the current virus and social distancing requirements. Stay tuned!
